BBC World Service The BBC is the world's most trusted international news broadcaster – committed to providing accurate, impartial, and independent news to audiences across the UK and around the world.

Total BBC income in 2022/23 was £5.73 billion, 65% of which came from the licence fee revenues. The remaining 35% or £1.99 billion came from commercial and other activities (such as grants, royalties and rental income).

The BBC app, which replaces the International BBC News app, brings together content from across the BBC, for the first time ever. The app mirrors the refreshed BBC.com experience, offering stories and videos across Business, Innovation, Culture, Travel, Earth and more, alongside News, Sport, and live coverage.

Launched on 11 March 1991 as BBC World Service Television outside Europe, its name was changed to BBC World on 16 January 1995 and to BBC World News on 21 April 2008 and again to BBC News (International) on 3 April 2023 after its consolidation with the domestic BBC News Channel.
